About payments

Payment rules and methods depend on the location of the auction

Every item in Ritchie Bros. auctions is sold on an "as is, where is" basis. All sales are final and no sale shall be invalidated. There are no refunds and credit card payments cannot be reversed.

If Ritchie Bros. does not receive full payment within seven (7) days of the end of the auction, your credit card may be charged automatically and a 2.95% iClosing Convenience Fee will be applied to the transaction. Interest on overdue amounts will be paid by Purchaser at a rate of 18% per annum or at such other maximum rate as allowed by law, together with any legal or collection costs incurred by Auctioneers. Any foreign currency exchange fees or charges are the responsibility of the credit card holder.

Credit card payments for auction purchases cannot exceed 10,000 in the currency of the auction, (or 1,000,000 Japanese yen), (or 50,000 USD in US-based auctions).

New Enhanced Statement Process

Our enhanced settlement and payout statements are designed for ease of use, accuracy, and predictability. Automation allows us to provide greater clarity in a streamlined format that increases our reliability for on-time payments while providing the most efficient, expedient experience possible for sellers.

Settlement and Payout Statement improvements:

  • Generate Settlement Statement once per event with 3 stages (estimated, provisional, final)

  • Display asset-level details, including sold prices and itemized deductions

  • Include processing or unpaid assets

  • Eliminate combining multiple reports for asset totals

  • Generate Payout Statement each time a payout is initiated

  • Include only the assets that were paid

  • Include assets from multiple events (clearly identified)

  • Show detailed deductions for each asset

Why it’s great for sellers:

  • No more draft estimate requests or manual calculations

  • Asset-level details show what was paid, when, and why

  • Easier tracking of partial payments

  • Improved timeliness and transparency of payouts

  • Greater trust in the process
